Description
George C. Boldt, wealthy Waldorf Astoria hotelier, had a castle built on Heart Island in the Saint Lawrence River, one designed to resemble the famous castles of Germany's Rhineland. This impressive estate is now open to the public on self-guided tours, the island itself accessible by boat only. Take in expansive Boldt Castle and other sights of interest on the gounds like Alster Tower (a luxurious "playhouse"), the medieval-styled Power House, the Hennery, the Romanesque Arch, (the island's formal entry gate) and the elaborate Yacht House as you explore Heart Island.
