Wander mountain-top trails, while away a day trout fishing or consider a full weekend of wine tasting on your next trip to the Catskill Mountain region.
El Museo del Barrio is New York City's only museum to specialize in Latino culture and art, a facility founded by Puerto Ricans in the late 60's that has since expanded to include both the Caribbean and Latin America in its scope. Recently renovated (with a Fall 2009 reopening), visitors will find on show in the gallery space a range of artistic treasures, from Pre-Columbian artifacts to prints, installations and over 500 paintings from prominent Latino artists from the 20th century. Also part of the permanent collection is an assortment of historic documents, films and photography. Keep an eye on the events calendar for information on lively Latino festivals and current exhibitions.
