New York City, aka "The Big Apple" is America's mega-metropolitan center, home to world-class museums, landmark attractions and a multi-cultural populous.
Museum lovers will swoon over New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art, or the Met, as it's known locally. Housed in an expansive building on the east side of Central Park, there's seemingly no end to its exhibit space. Visitors can venture, if their legs hold out, from ancient Egypt on through medieval Europe (the latter courtesy of The Cloisters, a Met branch in Fort Tryon Park) and dabble with the Renaissance, Impressionism, Expressionism, Realism and more contemporary schools via the old masters and fresh talent. Fine art rubs shoulders here with fine artifacts in a collection over two millions works strong. Plan to spend the better part of the day at this, one of the world's largest art museums.
