College town Ithaca has two higher-ed institutions to call its own, but also counts to its credit frothing waterfalls, a pleasant pedestrian mall and a clutch of cultural sights.
Built in 1937 to serve as the formal entrance to Queen Victoria Park, this amphitheater combines natural flower and shrub elements with a fan-shaped pergola, Queenston limestone and ornamental gates to create a wonderful space for concerts and other events held throughout the year. The theater, maintained by the Niagara Parks Commission, was once the site of the Clifton Hotel, and part of the hotel's foundation has been incorporated into its design. Nearby attractions include the Casino Niagara, Skylon Tower, and Maid of the Mist boat tour.
