Dramatic mountain crags fall away to reveal forest-flanked lakes in the Lake Placid Region, a stretch of the Adirondacks known for the easy access it affords to year-round outdoor activities.
It's mans' flying machines that are the theme of the Wings of Eagles Discovery Center, a facilty that takes visitors through the history of aeronautics, from war planes to lunar landings, gliders to the Cub Coupe through both visually rich displays and a fine collection of historic planes, hangar-housed. In season, visitors can arrange for short rides in vintage aircraft or sign up for flight school.
