Description

Repertorio Espanol was founded in 1968 by producer Gilberto Zaldivar and Artistic Director Renee Buch to introduce the best of Latin American, Spanish and Hispanic-American theatre in distinctive, quality productions, and to bring theatre to a broad audience in New York City and across the country.Throughout its 34 year history, Repertorio Espanol has become the preeminent Spanish language theatre company of the United States. As a repertory company, the Repertorio performs over 400 performances a year including national and international tours. It has included works from Spain's golden age, as well as nearly the entire canon of 20th century dramatist, Federico Garcia Lorca. As a representative of the Hispanic community, the Repertorio feels a sense of responsibility to engage its constituency to the fullest through its production and projects, including the Voces Nuevas (New Voices) Series of contemporary works by Hispanic-American playwrights.
