Just a few miles from Manhattan, and close to the Hudson River, Hackensack is home to approximately 43,000 residents. It is centrally located near nice shopping areas like Paramus, and close enough to the water and locations like Englewood Cliffs and Alpine, for outdoor lovers to exercise their limbs.
The New Jersey Naval Museum is located in Hackensack and has the WWII-era USS Ling?a diesel-powered submarine, on display. With over 15 parks in the area, biking, swimming, hiking and organized sports are always available, or just show up at the Green, located in the center of town, and host to many of Hackensack's holiday celebrations and events.
In nearby Paramus, kids can visit the New Jersey Children's Museum as well as the Bergen Museum of Art and Science, featuring a number of interesting science exhibits for kids of all ages.
In nearby Alpine, Palisades Interstate Park has a seven mile stretch of biking trail along the Hudson River, and offers some interesting bird watching as well as gorgeous views of Manhattan.
Hackensack is located in the northeast tip of New Jersey and is surrounded by Fort Lee on the water and Paramus to the northwest. It is accessible via US 80.
