  • Bridgeport

Bridgeport is the largest city in Connecticut. New venues for arts and recreation have been introduced and are showing a positive effect. A hot spot in town is the Arena at Harbor Yard, a sports and entertainment complex that attracts crowds for AHL Sound Tigers hockey, Fairfield University NCAA basketball, and live family entertainment.

Danbury, the former Hat Capital of the World, is about 60 miles west of Hartford. The town's history is well documented in the Danbury Museum and Historical Society on Main Street. And a canoe tour of New Haven is fun way to take in the sights with a twist of adventure. Dozens of theatrical venues exist in town from dinner theaters to professional troupes.

  • Stamford

A small town that's rapidly growing into a corporate Mecca, Stamford offers a good deal of urban amenities. There are excellent restaurants and night clubs and cultural activities abound. SoundWaters, the reproduction of a 19th-Century Chesapeake Bay sharpie schooner, offers adventure cruises on Long Island Sound to examine the ecological wonders of the region. Nature trails through farmlands, and wetlands dusted with wildflowers are found at the 63-acre Bartlett Arboretum and the 118-acre Stamford Museum and Nature Center.
